Next Month, Canadian Dealerships Will Welcome the Kia EV9 SUV, Starting at $59,995 and Eligible for iZEV Rebate

This week, Canadian drivers eagerly anticipating Kia's inaugural fully electric three-row SUV can now plan their purchase more confidently.

On November 6, Kia Canada made the exciting announcement that the EV9 SUV will hit Canadian dealerships next month. The vehicle's base price is set at $59,995, rendering it eligible for the federal iZEV rebate incentive and various provincial rebates where applicable.

Kia has introduced four additional EV9 configurations, each differing in design, range capacity, and motor setup, with prices ranging from $62,995 to nearly $79,000.

Elias El-Achhab, vice-president and COO of Kia Canada, expressed, "This competitive price and range of options will empower Canadians to choose the model that aligns best with their lifestyle."

Initially launched in Korea in June, the EV9 SUV was showcased to North American buyers at the New York International Auto Show in April. Kia Canada started accepting reservations for the EV9 in July but had to halt bookings in the fall due to overwhelming demand.

In terms of specifications, the EV9 stands out as the second Kia model to incorporate Hyundai's Electric Global Modular Platform, a battery electric vehicle platform developed in 2021. It also utilizes fourth-generation battery technology, designed to enhance energy density and boasts a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.

Kia has creatively named the various EV9 models after earth elements: Light, Wind, and Land. The Light, functioning with rear-wheel drive, a 76.1 kWh battery, and a single motor, offers a range of 370 kilometers. The other four configurations are all equipped with a larger 99.8 kWh battery:

- The Wind features rear-wheel drive, a single motor, and, with the larger battery, an impressive range of up to 489 km.
- The Land, an all-wheel drive dual-motor vehicle, comes in two versions: the base model and the Land with Premium Package, both offering a range of 451 km. The Land with a GT-Line package, the priciest option, provides a range of 435 km. Kia detailed the features of the GT-Line in their press release, mentioning elements like 21-inch lightweight alloy wheels, a bridge-type roof rail, dark-colored belt line molding, and gloss black side mirrors.

The all-wheel drive dual-motor versions of the EV9 boast 379 horsepower and 516 pound-foot of torque. Moreover, the EV9 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in under 25 minutes on high-speed DC chargers.

As the Canadian release approaches, Kia aims to simplify the purchasing process for consumers by offering multiple models and price points. Elias El-Achhab emphasized, "Being the first mass-market brand to introduce a three-row, all-electric SUV, we aimed for innovation and excellence, while also ensuring accessibility."
