EX, EX Premium or SX: Choosing Your 2027 Kia Sportage Hybrid Trim

Three trims, one hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive. That shared base makes the 2027 Kia Sportage Hybrid easier to sort out than most lineups. The choice between the EX, EX Premium and SX comes down to seat comfort, lighting, screens and driver-assist tech.

The Sportage Hybrid is coming to Ontario dealerships, and this guide shows what each step up adds so you can match a trim to the way you drive.

What Every Sportage Hybrid Trim Shares

Under the hood, a 1.6 L turbocharged four-cylinder (177 hp) works with a 65 hp electric motor for 232 hp of system output. Combined torque is 271 lb-ft. A six-speed automatic, AWD, Drive Mode Select and trailer package pre-wiring are standard on the EX, EX Premium and SX.

The EX Premium is rated at 6.7 L/100 km combined and tows 2,000 lbs (907 kg). Ground clearance is 210 mm, a useful number on rutted side roads and snowy driveways alike.

Cargo room measures 977 L behind the rear seats and 1,852 L behind the front row in the EX Premium. The 60:40 split-folding rear seats are standard on all three trims.

Cold-morning comfort is also shared. Heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a heated windshield, a remote car starter and dual-zone climate control come with every trim listed here. The 12.3-inch navigation screen runs Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger sits in the cabin.

Safety is equally consistent. Eight airbags, Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Smart Cruise Control 2 with Stop&Go and a rear view monitor are standard across the three trims.

EX: The Full Hybrid Foundation

The EX is the hybrid system and the AWD with nothing removed. You still get synthetic leather seats, the heated steering wheel and Highway Drive Assist for long 400-series stretches.

The EX rides on 17-inch alloys with LED projection headlights and front and rear parking sensors. It skips the sunroof, the power liftgate and the memory and cooled seating. If your daily drive is a solo commute and you want the mechanical package plus the winter heat features, the EX covers it.

EX Premium: The Comfort Step

The EX Premium is where the cabin changes most. The driver seat gains memory settings, the passenger seat goes power-adjustable, and the front seats add air cooling. Heated rear seats give back-row passengers the same warmth the front row already has.

Outside, 18-inch wheels arrive with a panoramic sunroof, LED fog lights and power-folding mirrors. The Smart Power Liftgate opens the 977 L cargo area when your hands are full of groceries or hockey bags.

Premium pedals, premium door scuffs and satin chrome interior door handles round out the finish. The driver-assist package stays the same as the EX, so the jump here is about daily comfort and family use, not new tech.

SX: The Tech and Presentation Step

The SX keeps the EX Premium’s comfort list and changes what you see and hear. A 12.3-inch Supervision cluster replaces the 4-inch TFT display, a Head-Up Display keeps speed in your sightline, and a Harman Kardon system replaces the 6-speaker setup. Digital Key is also standard.

The lighting changes too. LED 4-cube projection headlights with Low Beam Assist replace the LED projection units, and matte chrome and dark satin finish elements sharpen the exterior.

The biggest change is driver assistance. The SX carries Highway Driving Assist 2 and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2.0 in place of the EX and EX Premium versions. It also adds Rear Parking Collision Avoidance Assist, a Surround View Monitor, a Blind view monitor and Remote Smart Park Assist. Parking Distance Warning covers forward, side and reverse.

Which Sportage Hybrid Trim Fits Your Drive?

If you want the hybrid powertrain, AWD and winter heat features in the simplest form, the EX fits. It handles commuting, errands and light trailer work with the pre-wiring already in place.

If your household shares the car, the EX Premium fits. Cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof and a power liftgate are the daily comforts that passengers notice.

If you spend long hours on the highway or park in tight lots, the SX fits. The Head-Up Display, the Supervision cluster and the surround-view and remote parking tools carry the fullest equipment list in the lineup.
