The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid Officially Unveiled In Los Angeles

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid was officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show last week, a month after the redesigned generation of the Sportage was unveiled to the world. The Kia Sportage Hybrid will arrive in North America next year and will be offered to Canadian consumers in 2022. The Kia Sportage Hybrid was unveiled alongside the all-new Kia EV9 in Los Angeles, and it will be joined by the Kia EV6 and a Sorento PHEV next year.

The Kia Sportage is the latest model to receive an electrified powertrain in the Kia lineup.  Kia hopes to offer multiple EV models in the coming years and the 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid is definitely one of the highlights.

The 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid will be powered by a combination of a 1.6 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a 44-kW motor.  Combined, these two powertrains will deliver 226 horsepower with an average fuel consumption rating of 6 L per 100 km. This engine is paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox, a refreshing offer in a world where most hybrid vehicles offer a CVT gearbox which is a lot less dynamic. The electric motor is powered by a 1.49-kWh llithium-ion battery which helps the gas engine in a variety of ways in order to lower fuel consumption.

The great thing about the 2023 Kia Sportage is that you do not need to adapt the way you drive, and you do not need to charge it to enjoy the benefits of the impressive fuel economy.  Give us a call today to learn more about the new 2023 Kia Sportage and the upcoming hybrid version.
